Dhuvaran Thermal Power Station

Dhuvaran thermal power station is a 220 Megawatt coal plant which is gas based. There are three units of Combined Cycle Power Project utilizing Natural Gas / Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas as fuel for power production. The power plant is under the control of Gujarat Electricity Board, which is under the control of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited.

Dhuvaran Thermal Power Station is commissioned in 1965 July. The approved capacity of this thermal power plant is 534 Megawatt. The installed capacity is also 534 Megawatt. The status of this thermal power plant is Operational. The primary fuel used for the generation of power is Oil and Natural Gas. The owner and operator of this thermal power plant is Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Gujarat and its neighbouring states. The Unit Size of this thermal power plant is 534 Megawatt (63.5 Megawatt x 4 units + 110 Megawatt x 2 units). There are two units in operational. They are Unit 5 and Unit 6.

The first unit is commissioned in 1965 July 12 with an installed capacity of 63.5 Megawatt. Similarly the second unit is commissioned in 1965 April 29 with an installed capacity of 63.5 Megawatt. After that the third unit is commissioned in 1965 February 17 with an installed capacity of 63.5 Megawatt. The fourth unit is commissioned in 1964 December 17 with an installed capacity of 63.5 Megawatt. All the units from Unit 1 to Unit 4 are retired. The fifth unit is commissioned in 1972 May 27 with an installed capacity of 140 Megawatt. The sixth unit is commissioned in 1972 September 10 with an installed capacity of 140 Megawatt. Both of Fifth and Sixth units are derated to 110 Megawatt each and it subsequently retired from service with effect from 2010 December 1.
